As part of preparations for surgical or endovascular intervention on blood vessels, in most cases it is necessary to perform multislice computed tomographic (MSCT) angiography. Common types of examinations are MSCT arcography to show the arteries of the head, neck and upper limbs and MSCT aortography to show the aorta and its branches with the arteries of the lower limbs. The procedure is safe and comfortable, and involves inserting iodine contrast into the circulation through the venous tract on the arm just before the scan.
