Dr. Olivera Đokić was born in 1965 in Podgorica. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade, in 1989, with the grade point average of 9.03. She completed her postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Belgrade in 1992, passed the oral Master’s exam with an excellent grade (10), and after defending her Master’s thesis she obtained the title of Master of Medical Sciences. She started her residency specializing in the field of internal medicine in 1994 at the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Belgrade, and passed the specialist exam in 1998 with an excellent grade (10) and obtained the title of specialist in internal medicine. She defended her doctoral dissertation entitled “Function of the left ventricle after surgical interventions on the ascending aorta” in 2008 at the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Belgrade and obtained the title of Doctor of Medical Sciences.

She started her subspecialization in the field of cardiology in 2005 at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade, passed the oral exam with a grade 10 (ten) and obtained the title of subspecialist in cardiology by defending her subspecialist thesis. In 2015, she was awarded the title of Chief of Medicine. She was awarded the title of Research Assistant in 2019. Since the academic year 2019/2020 she has been a professor at the Medical College of Applied Studies “Sveti Vasilije Ostroški” in Belgrade. In October, 2020, she was elected assistant professor at the Department of Internal Medicine at the University Medical Center in Banja Luka. She has been employed at the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases Dedinje in Belgrade since 1993.

She has many years of clinical experience in treating cardiac and cardiac surgery patients, by applying non-invasive cardiac diagnostics: echocardiography and ergometry. Professional training: Slovak Republic – Central European School of Immunology – Organized by Basel Institute (Switzerland); Toronto General Hospital (Canada) She actively participates in continuing medical education, as well as in scientific research projects.

She was among the first lecturers at the founding of the School of Echocardiography of the ICVD Dedinje. She is the author of a number of papers published in relevant scientific journals, and presented at the largest world and European professional conferences. She is the president of a branch of the Serbian Medical Society, ICVD Dedinje. She is also a member of the cardiology section of the Serbian Medical Society, the Serbian Medical Chamber and the European Society of Cardiology. She is fluent in English, French and German.
