Dr. Elena Stefanović graduated from and specialized in pathology at the Moscow Medical Academy IM Sechenov. She obtained her Master’s degree at the Scientific Center of Surgery of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Moscow. Her Master thesis covers two fields of specialization – pathology and cardiac surgery. Title of the study – Effects of cardioplegia on microcirculation of the heart and cardiomyocytes during radical correction of Fallot tetralogy (electron microscopic examination). All her diplomas are recognized by the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade. She works as a cardiovascular pathologist at ICVD Dedinje. She is the author of several scientific publications, participant in scientific congresses and conferences. She is a member of the European Association of Cardiovascular Pathologists (EACVP) and the Cardiology Society of Serbia. The areas of subspecialty she is interested in are endothelium in cardiovascular pathology, hibernated myocardium, cardiomyopathy and myocarditis.
