As recently announced, the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases “Dedinje” continues to introduce fantastic TAVI solutions. Today, for the first time in Serbia, two patients were implanted with a special Portico valve, manufactured by ABBOTT, which is especially suitable for those patients who have associated cardiovascular disease, or coronary artery disease. Also, in addition to interventions with new prostheses, for the first time in Serbia, access points for TAVI procedures were closed with a special device for vascular closure, the so-called MANTOM, which contains a special type of glue, which very successfully stops bleeding from large openings. femoral arteries.

– The new design of the prosthesis with open cells of large diameter enables easier access to large blood vessels, ie inguinal arteries, which, for us doctors, is a mitigating circumstance in performing all future potential interventions such as stent placement or balloon dilatation – says the coordinator TAVI program in “Dedinje”, interventional cardiologist Dr. Darko Boljevic, noting that the Institute continues to work at full capacity, to reduce waiting lists, all for the benefit of its patients.

After the opening of the new building, the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases, Dedinje, started performing the TAVI program at full capacity. Last week, doctors from the Dedinje Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases broke the European record for the number of TAVI procedures performed in one day, so the Institute’s expert teams managed to perform thirteen aortic valve replacements on the heart muscle (TAVI procedures), which definitely won the European winner. throne, which they have so far shared with the hospital in Leipzig.
