Expressing satisfaction that prof. Gaviša is welcomed in the new building of the Institute “Dedinje”, in which the conditions have been created for the long-established Center for Disease Prevention to finally develop, appropriate to the importance that belongs to it, Prof. Bojic said:
– We started realizing the idea of founding the Center for Disease Prevention a long time ago, by forming a laboratory for atherosclerosis and vascular biology, which was a real pioneering endeavor 25 years ago. However, the Center for Disease Prevention had to wait for a better time, and now we are in a position to develop it the way we wanted. Our goal is to give a strong preventive approach to cardiovascular diseases, so cooperation with you, Professor Gaviš, will be very important to us.
The guest from Jerusalem started his career as an internist, but, as he says, he quickly realized that it was not enough for him, so he transferred to the Department of Molecular Biology and Preventive Cardiology.
– I graduated in cardiology, because it is my special love, and prevention also won me over and I pay significant attention to it, both where I work and in the Israeli Association for Atherosclerosis, of which I am president. Working at the largest center for invasive cardiology in Israel, I began to focus on talking to patients who come to invasive procedures, their family members for insight into their genetics, as well as their secondary prevention – said Prof. Dr. Gaviš, emphasizing that there are many reasons for future successful cooperation.
– We share the same ideas and thoughts, and our two countries have a lot in common. Israel is a small country with about nine million inhabitants, but, just like you, we want to show that, even though we are small, we can be a pioneer in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. We are already doing that with great success and that challenge is “pulling” us forward. I would like to cooperate with you in conquering the vast field of cardiovascular prevention – says prof. Gaviš.
Professors Gaviš Bojić and Tasić agreed that in the period from 2011 to 2019, mortality from heart attacks and strokes was significantly reduced, but that the Kovid 19 pandemic left worrying consequences for the cardiovascular system, so a significant increase in mortality from cardiovascular diseases was observed. pandemic years. Research is relentlessly showing that a dramatic increase in cardiovascular disease awaits us in the future.
-We must work tirelessly to prevent this post-mortem plague – agree the guest and the hosts who are going to Bijeljina where they will participate in the International Congress for Hypertension, Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention – HISPA and the World Vascular Health Association (ISVH), which will deal with a comprehensive approach to the protection of the heart and blood vessels in the postcovid era.
Prof. Dr. Tasić states that the society has deeply entered the post-covid era, which will last for a long time, because it has been determined that the corona virus, above all, attacks the heart and blood vessels, but also leaves damage to other organs.
– We are on the threshold of a difficult period, which is why we must have very clear guidelines. We would like to establish official cooperation between our Institute and the Preventive Cardiology Hospital of Prof. Gavisha in Israel, with the possibility of sending our young experts to be educated there, but also for Israeli doctors to come to us – said Prof. Tasic.
